psbios.download is a guide site for PlayStation emulation. We explain how PS2 and PS1 BIOS files work, how to set them up in emulators such as PCSX2, DuckStation, ARMSX2, ePSXe and RetroArch, and where to get each emulator or Sony system update from its official home. The site is new and is being built page by page in 2026.
What we cover
- BIOS guides: what a console BIOS is, how regions and SCPH model numbers fit together, file names and sizes, and how to dump the BIOS from a console you own.
- Emulator setup: first-run setup, recommended settings, controller mapping and fixes for the errors people hit most often.
- Download pages: the current version, release date, platforms and file details of each emulator, with a button to the project’s own release page.
- Game lists: curated lists of PS2 and PSP games that play well in emulators. These are lists to read, not places to get games.
Editorial policy
These are the rules every page on this site follows:
- Sources come first. Version numbers, file sizes, checksums and system requirements are taken from the project’s release page, its documentation or Sony’s support pages, and each download page shows the date we last checked them.
- Steps are checked against the current release. Menus and option names change between emulator versions. When a release moves a setting, we update the steps rather than leave outdated screenshots in place.
- Our own words and images. We write every guide ourselves and take our own screenshots. We do not copy text from other sites or spin it.
- No guest posts, paid links or off-topic articles. Everything here is about PlayStation emulation, BIOS setup or the games played on it.
- Corrections are welcome. If a step is wrong or a version is out of date, tell us through the contact page. We fix confirmed errors and update the “last checked” date.
Who writes the guides
Elias Navarro writes and maintains the guides on psbios.download. His focus is PlayStation emulation and game preservation: getting PCSX2, DuckStation, ARMSX2 and PPSSPP running properly on Windows, macOS, Linux and Android, and backing up the BIOS and discs of hardware you already own so that it keeps working after the console does not.
